Obituary
BETTY BRENNEKE DEAN 1926-2021 Betty was born in Denison, Texas on December 17, 1926, the daughter of A.M. and Leah Norwood Brenneke. She graduated from Denison High School in 1944 and attended Christian College in Columbia, MO, then transferred to SMU where she graduated in 1947. She married her college sweetheart, Tom Dean, the same year. They lived in Dallas until 1962 when they moved to St. Louis, Mo. In 1975, the family returned to Texas and she lived in Plano for over 40 years. Betty was a member of Chi Omega Sorority, several honor societies, the Plano Garden Club, Book Club, and The Chapel of the Cross, where she was active in the Altar Guild, was President of the Ladies of the Chapel, and served on the Board of Trustees in 2006. She adored her family, friends, her dogs, and loved cooking, gardening, playing bridge, and needlework. Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Thomas E. Dean, one sister, Nancy Brenneke, and four great grandchildren, Connor, Claire, Rachel, and Leah Bellamy. She is survived by two daughters, Betsy Dean of Plano, and Becky Dean Laird and husband Robert of Abilene, Texas; two grandchildren, Beth Laird Bellamy and husband Justin of Colorado, and Thomas Laird of California; one great grandson, Jakhi Bellamy of Colorado; one brother, Norwood M. Brenneke and wife Carol of Arlington; niece Sharon Brenneke Sholden and husband Joe of Arlington; great niece Lauren Sholden Riter and husband Matt (and son Andrew) of Plano; great nephew Stephen Sholden and wife Tulip of North Richland Hills; several cousins, nieces and nephews; and goddaugheter Jan Blevins of Dallas. A memorial service will be held at The Chapel of the Cross, 4333 Cole Ave., Dallas, on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Chapel of the Cross, Alzheimer’s Association, Operation Kindness, Carrollton, TX., the SPCA of Collin County, or the charity of your choice. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
