Obituary

Gilbert Hernandez of Plano, Texas passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at the age of 38.   The day we lost you our whole world changed. My boys lost their daddy, and me, my best friend. I can’t begin to describe the hurt and void we feel inside. Words can’t express just how much you mean to us. Our boys have been reminiscing of all the fun things you three did together and the wonderful times we shared as a family. Nathan sent you a message the morning you passed, and he’s so sad you never got to read it. He wishes he could play with you just one more time. Ryan keeps asking when he’ll be old, he’s waiting for the day that he can see you again. You were the best dad in the world and the boys adored you. I thank you for them, and promise I will keep your memory alive. I will do all I can to raise them as we both wanted. Your love for us was known and felt, and it’ll live on forever. You were a blessing to us and you are still. Even though you’re gone, we’re still a team. I know you’ll be watching over us from heaven, until the day we are all together again.   The family will be having a visitation for Gilbert at Aria Funeral Home located at 19310 Preston Rd., Dallas, TX 75252 on Friday, July 2, 2021 from 5pm-7pm. Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.

Gil, you will be missed my friend. I am privileged to have known you for 8 years. You were quiet and kind with good family and work ethics. I hope your son’s grow up with the same qualities you have demonstrated in their presence. I’m saddened that I will never get to take you up on your offer to hang out. Time unfortunately is something no man can buy.

Gil was a man of quiet influence and joy. His inner light was fueled by the radiating love of his family. The way he worked hard, head down and often quiet, made his words even more meaningful. I remember how excited we were when he moved to Texas and then how excited I was to interview him for my team (alas, Gil was over qualified). His friendship, intellect, respect, and values made him a treasure. Blessings of peace to Gil’s family. May you find peace and comfort in the joyful memories.

Gil was a wonderful daddy. I could tell he adored his boys by the way he would look at them. I pray his wife and children find peace.

Gil you were a great father and a well thought of friend. I will miss having our weekly banter of who’s football team is better. You were our Commish and we loved giving you crap on your commissioner antics in the Fantasy Football League. I will secretly root for the steelers in your honor. I know you’re up there with Kobe probably asking him a ton of questions. Until next time commish you will be missed dearly.

    Gil,
Although I only knew you a short time as a Co- Worker at Rushmore & ServiceMac I enjoyed talking with you. Our last conversation was during the crazy snow storm back in February with the rolling blackouts. You were a family man & hard worker. You will be missed. Your family will be in my thoughts & prayers.

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
