Obituary
The service for Norman Stratton Baker, 80 of Benbrook, Texas is scheduled at Trinity Hills Baptist Church 6970 Fm 2871, Benbrook, TX 76126 on October 8, 2021 at 11:00 am and the internment to follow at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2:30 pm. Pastor Larry Sanders and Dr. Bob Price officiating. Mr. Baker went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at his home in Benbrook after a long battle with the after effects of Leukemia. Norm was born May 28, 1941 in Hartford, Connecticut. He graduated from East Hartford High School in 1959 and entered the U.S. Navy where he served for 20 years. He and his wife Jean were married in Southington, Connecticut in 1966 and shared a life together for 55 years. They had three children: Edward, Denise and Mark. He loved the Lord and was known for his spirit of giving and kindness within the working ministries of the church. After serving in the Navy, he was involved with home building, master woodworking, was an owner operator for North American Van Lines, drove a bus for Greyhound, installed cabinets and finished his career as a supervisor for D. R. Horton Home Builders. He was a man of many talents. His hobbies were woodworking and motorcycling. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Edward Baker Jr. and Edna Marie Hagood, his sister Bethany Baker Young and brother Charles Edward Baker III. Norm is survived by his wife, Jean Boyington Baker, his sister Donna Baker, his children Edward Scott and wife Kayla Edwards, Denise Louise and Mark Stratton and wife Paola Risco, 5 grandchildren – Brandon, Katie and husband Brian Edwards, Tyler and wife Alexandra (Ally) Ericksen, Morgan, Amber and 4 great grandchildren – Emma, Joshua, Noah and Bailey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Lymphoma and Leukemia Society Leukemia & Lymphoma Society | Blood Cancer Leaders | LLS.
