Michael was a fellow member of my class at Lincoln Elementary School in Cadillac, Michigan, beginning around the mid-1950’s. For a year or two, Michael and I were charter members of Boy Scout Troop 164 sponsored by the Lincoln School PTA, where we enjoyed learning camp crafts, knot-tying, hiking, camping, and outdoor cooking. We continued to be classmates and friends until our Cadillac High School graduation in June of 1963.
I remember Michael as being a fellow student with a well-developed sense of humor, very intelligent, quick-witted, a voracious reader of Mad Magazine, and well-read otherwise, especially when it involved science fiction. As I remember, he enjoyed developing plans for often humorous pranks. Like me, he was above average as a student, but probably could have excelled with honors if he was not distracted by other interests. He enjoyed a high level of curiosity, seemed well-adjusted, was jovial and had a wonderful laugh, and found humor in nearly every facet of his student’s life. I’m sure his loved ones are saddened by his passing and will miss his laughter in the days ahead. Hearing of his passing yesterday was quite unexpected.
May you rest in Peace, my old Friend.
“Jerry”
