Obituary
Nancy Ann Riley, 79 of Dallas, went to be with The Lord on March 6, 2015.
Nancy was born in Eau Claire, WI on January 18, 1936, a daughter of the late Robert and Agnes McGrouary. She graduated from Saint Regis High School in Eau Claire, WI and attended The University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. Nancy was often referred to as “Queenie” because she was the Minneapolis Rodeo Queen in 1958.
Following college, Nancy joined North Central Airlines and was later hired by American Airlines into an elite group of flight attendants. She also served as an ambassador for the airline.
In 1963 she married Joe Slayton in Dallas, TX and they had three children. She later married William Riley in 1985.
Nancy is survived by her son, Scott T. Slayton and his wife Shelby of Greenwich, CT, as well as her two daughters, Tiffany S. Jackson and her husband Rob and Angela S. Harrell and her husband Jason both of Dallas, TX. She was also blessed with four grandchildren that were a great source of joy to her, Chase R. Jackson and Cole R. Jackson of Dallas, TX and Caroline Avery Slayton and Charlotte F. Slayton of Greenwich, CT. Nancy is also survived by her two sisters, Sally McGrouary Robinson and her husband Bill of Columbus, OH and Michelle McGrouary Borgia and her husband Jim of Findlay, OH as well as her brother Michael McGrouary and his wife LuAnn of Eau Claire, WI.
Nancy was a member of Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. She was also an avid tennis player all of her adult life. She was never happier than when she held a racquet in her hand. Nancy was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, sister and friend, she will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on Saturday, March 28 at 10:00am at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church on Douglas Avenue, Dallas, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital.
