Obituary
Phyllis Margaret (Struble) Mack passed away peacefully on April 11, 2015, at the age of 101. She was born in Holyoke, Colo., on Dec. 4, 1913, to Philemon and Ethel Struble.
She spent her childhood in Holyoke and then attended Colorado Woman’s College in Denver. There, she played basketball and was a beauty queen. While she was in Denver, she met a law student who would become her future husband, Fred Mack. They graduated, got married and moved to Pueblo, where Fred practiced law and eventually became district attorney and a municipal judge. They were married for over 50 years.
Phyllis worked at the Pueblo City-County Health Department for 29 years. They had one child, Phyllis Jean Mack (Ferguson), who grew up in Pueblo. Phyllis loved to cook and garden. She loved dogs. She was a member of the Arkansas Valley DAR and Order of the Easter Star. She also was a member of the YWCA Cappella Club, San Isabel Shrine, Pueblo Assistance League and a board member of the Colorado Public Health Association. She loved to play bridge and golf and practiced yoga during her middle-aged years. She was always ready with a smile.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her late husband, the Honorable Fred J. Mack; brother, Paul Struble; and her daughter, Phyllis Jean Ferguson.
She is survived by granddaughter, Cathy (Kent) Krejci of Frisco, Texas; grandson, John Ferguson of New York, N.Y.; a niece, Mary Ann Smith of Denver; and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Katie Krejci.
