"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

To Our Family-
I am forever grateful for you not allowing Kasandra to walk out of the church on our wedding day. You stood up for both of us and said “we’re going to do this baby”. I will also never forget those many Saturday mornings that we shared Shirley’s donuts & a hot cup of coffee. Obviously solving the world’s problems.
You will never be forgotten my brother.

To my only brother in law. I have known since I was 12 years old, coming over to the house as a friend to my brother Joe. Then falling in love with my sister as time went on. So many good memories of you. Always a great dancer n ready for anything that came your way. Giving me four wonderful nephew n nieces. You were so blessed. Now it’s time to do some dancing in heaven and be without any pain or worries. Until we meet again may you rest in peace. You will be missed.
I am missing your kindness already Uncle Isaac. You were always so sweet, loving and easy to approach. Thank you for that. You are greatly missed. Rest peacefully.

Isaac Dela Garza, a short story.
To his family, friends and especially to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In general, all the time I knew Isaac, he was good natured, hardworking, had a great sense of humor and a big heart but he wasn’t a push over, he stood his ground when it was called for.
Isaac and I met in our early teens, in junior high school, now known as middle school. It was at South Park Junior High; I believe in the eighth grade.
When I first met Isaac, and I had never known anyone named Isaac. He was new to the hood, and I thought, ‘where is this dud from, who is this Vato’ (Dud), all slicked out with his shinning black calcos (shoes) his hair all slicked back. ‘Un vato de aquella!’ (a cool dud). The Fonz (from Happy Days) had nothing on Isaac. Isaac was Mr. Cool himself, way before Henry Winkler came on the scene.
We hit it off right away and as we got to know one another better we became best of friends. Isaac lived a little further from our school than I did, so he would come by my home, and we’d walk to school. The time passed and when we got ready to go to high school (Mary Carroll High School) Isaac started working. He got a job at Nolan’s Barbecue on Sunnybrook and Ayers, not far from where he lived. Not too long after he started working Isaac bought his first vehicle, a 1959 or 1960 Chevy Station Wagon (there were no SUV’s then).
Now the Chevy wagon wasn’t the best-looking ride, but it was a good running vehicle. My Jefe (Dad) offered to paint the Chevy wagon if we sanded and did the body work. So, we did, we got sandpaper, bondo to smooth out the dents and scratches. It was a bigger job than what we imagined but when we finished my Jefe painted the Chevy wagon a dark Army Green.
From that point on Isaac had a cool Batmobile and he would come by for me every morning to go to school.
In high school, Isaac, uncle Joe and I would hang out, and party and do things we probably shouldn’t have. I’m quite certain Joe and I did but Isaac always had our back. One thing is for sure Isaac was always the mature one, he was the levelheaded one and the most responsible.
During our high school years Isaac and Linda got to know one another and it was the beginning of a beautiful and enduing love relationship.
The journey we shared as youngsters transitioning into young men was a unique time and an exciting experience, one I will always cherish.
As friends, duds and cousins our lives led us down different paths, but our bond and our connection were never broken.
Isaac was blessed and I’m sure he was proud to have such have such an incredible caring and loving family.

I wish I could have seen you more often Uncle Isaac, but the few times we did get to talk and see each other, I enjoyed every minute. I always loved hearing the stories my dad would say about his times with you and the others in the younger days.
