Elizabeth “Liz” Webb Sample was born in Houston, Texas on September 24, 1938, to Clyde and Ruth Webb. She grew up in Arlington, Virginia and Fort Worth, Texas where she graduated from Mount Carmel Catholic School and Texas Christian University. Liz married Harold Sample on February 14, 1963, and they were married for 55 years until Harold’s death in 2018.
Liz devoted her professional life to teaching kindergarten, spending most of her career in the Crowley, Texas school district. After retirement, Liz spent many hours knitting and crocheting gifts for family and friends and enjoyed travelling to Maine to visit her sister, Maureen Brooks.
Liz enjoyed serving those in need. She spent much of her free time volunteering for Meals on Wheels, knitting scarfs and hats for the homeless and actively participating in her church. Liz was a long-time member of St. Bartholomew Parish in Ft. Worth and St. Rita Catholic Community after moving to Dallas in 2014. Liz is survived by her 4 children: Bryan, Danny, Karen, Eric and 5 grandchildren.
