Erica Phillips
Obituary
Erica Adrian Phillips passed to peace on July 29, 2022, at age 64. Erica was a ferocious life long Dallas Cowboys fan, but her truest passions were the people in her life: her family and friends. Erica had a good heart, wry humor, and a gentle spirit, and her joy in simple things never faded. She had a gift for bringing people together and sharing her talents with others. Erica had a special gift for making sweets {chocolate in particular} and was generous with it, routinely surprising friends and family with treats that never failed to please. At family Christmas parties, Erica’s talents in trimming a Christmas tree drew admirers from far and wide. As an exceptional vocalist, her performances of carols at those family Christmas parties were anticipated and appreciated events for decades.
Erica was always a most devoted daughter, and looked after her parents, Bill and Nancy Phillips, for years. While declining health meant Erica’s later life was not all she planned, she met its challenges with a grace that was the envy of all who beheld it.
Though we grieve her absence, those of us left behind by Erica’s passing – her ‘baby brother’ Derek Phillips, her nephew Spencer Phillips, her niece Elena (husband Austin) Strickler, her sister and niece by choice, Denise McMahon and Lauren (husband Juan) Aguirre, her uncle John (wife Pamela) Stroud, as well as her cousins Mark (wife Michelle) Tryling, Valerie (husband Michael) Adams, and Steven (wife Lauren) Tryling – take comfort knowing that Erica is reunited with the parents she loved so dearly and missed so sorely.A gathering to celebrate Erica’s life will be held at a later date.
