Obituary
Ethel (Athena) Kitsianis, age 91, passed on Friday, January 27, 2023 surrounded by loved ones.
Born July 3, 1931 to Greek immigrants Pota and Harry Manos in Detroit Michigan.
She was the youngest of 9 children and loved being involved with family.
She married John Kitsianis on July 16, 1949.
Ethel was a thoughtful, creative, determined and in-control woman who took pride in her work throughout her life. Her first jobs were working in the family grocery store and as a car hop at her older sister’s drive-in restaurant. Ethel for Hughes Aircraft as an IT Professional for 28 years until retiring with a history of accolades in 1999. She enjoyed working part-time in the Deli at the neighborhood Grocery for another 10 years after retiring.
Her later years included volunteering for a non profit organization, Texas Lettering Arts Council.
Ethel is proceeded in death by her husband, John, parents, Pota and Harry, and her siblings, Coula Panos (Gus), Mary Coutalides (John), Anna Macres (George), Lula Poulos (Tom), Helen Buhalis (Tony), Clara Demas (Louis), and Tom Manos (Patricia), George Manos (Janet), and many nieces and nephews….and friends.
Ethel is survived by her daughter, Angela Vangalis, son in-law, William Vangalis and grandchildren, Alex, Nicole and Gus Vangalis.

I first met Athena in 2014 when she was helping her daughter, Angie, with Legacies II, and International Calligraphy Conference. She always had a smile on her face. I have seen her many times since then and she was always ready to help in any way she could. What a legacy she is leaving.
