Gone From My Sight
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then, someone at my side says, “There, she is gone.”
Gone where?
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me — not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, “There, she is gone,”
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, “Here she comes!”
And that is dying…
Rose,
I’m so sorry for your loss. I know it must be very hard. Frank was such a nice man and I enjoyed his sense of humor. I hope you’ve had some comfort knowing how much he was loved by his family and friends.
Love, Christi
Dear Rose, Ed and I are so sorry to hear about the passing of Frank. I have good memories of him during your visits to Canton. He was fun to be around for sure and walking the dog was always part of his day. Thinking of you during this very difficult time. Shirley Wicevich and Ed Hoffman
Frank was one heck of a daredevil! We will miss his stories of childhood and adulthood mischief. He reminds me of the song “Hey, y’all, watch this! And did it because the chicks dig it!”
Rose, you have been the best partner in life I have ever witnessed. You were always by his side. He loved you so much.
Rose
so very sorry for your loss!
We were blessed when Frank and Rose moved next door. Could not ask for better neighbors or friends. Frank was always happy to see you and we loved his sense of humor. His love for Rose (and Romeo) was always apparent. We miss him.
My sincerest condolences to all the family of this Westville Yellowjacket.
So sorry to hear of Frankie’s passing. We grew up together in Westville OK. He was my 1st boyfriend, age 5.
I remember his parents and grandparents well. He was a good neighbor and a good friend.
