Obituary
Kezzia Mae Thomas died peacefully while in hospice care in Dallas, TX, on Saturday, Jan. 14th, 2023.
Kezzia was born in Minco, OK, on January 21st, 1930. She was the only child of Ted and Hester Studebaker.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ellen McIlroy, of Hurst, TX, and a son, David Seright, and his wife Bang Seright, of Irving, TX, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Kezzia was preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Hester Studebaker, husbands, Gerald Seright, Doc Holloway, O. B. Thomas, daughter, Juanice Hayslip, and son Jerry Seright.
Kezzia grew up in Skellytown, TX, a small town in the Texas panhandle. She graduated from White Deer High School at the age of sixteen. She met and married her first husband, Gerald, soon thereafter. They were missionaries to Brazil for 16 years. While married to her second husband, Doc Holloway, she was a teacher, a speech therapist, and a realtor. And, while married to her third husband, O. B. Thomas, she became an investor and bar owner in Cactus, TX.
Kezzia was a fun, friendly, adventurous, and entrepreneurial person. She spoke three languages, English, Portuguese, and Spanish, thus relating to many different kinds of people. She enjoyed betting on football games, going to Las Vegas, walking, fishing, reading, being with family, and traveling abroad. She will be missed greatly by all those who knew her.
A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Kezzia will be held on January 27th, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm, at Aría Funeral Home located at 1820 N. Beltline Rd., Irving, TX 75061. Relatives and friends are welcome to join us after the service for food and drinks at Arturo’s Mexican Restaurant located at 1810 W. Irving Blvd., Irving, TX 75061.

Unfortunately I didn’t have the opportunity to know her, but fortunately I do know you, so I know she must have been a very special lady! I know you were a wonderful son. You took good care of your Mom and was a great blessing to her. You are also a wonderful friend and a great blessing to me and Bryan. Always remember that you are not alone! Although your mom may no longer be with you physically on this earth, it is her beautiful spirit that remains… that’s the real Ms. Kezzia. While I won’t try to sound like I knew her well and we were close, I will say that there was a wonderful time when you and I knew each other well and it was a great time. The streams of our lives have since carried us in different directions, but still I often think of you and hope that all is well with you. Moving on knowing your mom has gone on ahead may be a sad thought at times, but we life on in the hope that is ours, knowing we’ll be together with our loved ones some day. Most sincerely yours.
