Lucy M. Rogers, loving wife, amazing mother and grandmother, devoted sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully in McKinney, Texas on December 20th at age 73 after a courageous battle with ALS.
Lucy was born on July 9th, 1949. She was a native of Greensboro, Georgia, the daughter of C.A. (Scut) Wilson Jr. and Prudence Elliott Wilson. She graduated from Greene County High School, Greensboro, Georgia in 1967.
She is survived by Glynn, her husband of 43 years; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Kim McCranie of Frisco, TX; grandchildren Lindsay and Lane McCranie; grandest children Drew, Matt, and Sarah Wilson; brother Jimmy
(Colleen) Wilson of Eatonton, GA; sister Judy (Dennis) Gore of Thomaston, GA; multiple nieces and nephews.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Victoria Wilson Jackson.
After high school she pursued a career in nursing. Her career spanned over 50 years with the last 39 years dedicated to Post Acute / Long Term Care. As a Registered Nurse and Licensed Administrator, Lucy earned certifications in Gerontological Nursing, Subacute Administration, Healthcare Compliance, and Healthcare Compliance Executive. She was also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Administrators. She also served on the boards of the Georgia Healthcare Association (past chair, chair of Quality Committee), the American Healthcare Association, Alliant Health Solutions, Community Health Services of Georgia, Dahlonega (GA) Historical Preservation, and Enotah CASA (GA).
Her passion was improving quality of care and quality of life for the residents and patients across the state of Georgia. She was often lovingly referred to as the “Queen of Quality”. Lucy never wanted to get far from “the bedside”. She was a coach, advocate, and cheerleader for all who provided any aspect of care for our seniors.
There will be a service in Georgia after the holidays. The family will notify loved ones when the service is scheduled. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to The ALS Association.
