Flora Henryetta (Reeves) Raab Obituary

Flora Henryetta (Reeves) Raab passed away peacefully on November 7, 2021 with her family at her side.
Flora was born March 26, 1943 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Henry Duncan Reeves and Flora May (Smith) Reeves. The Reeves family resided in Valiant, Oklahoma and Flora was a 1961 graduate of Valiant High School. Flora attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma and graduated with a degree in accounting.
Flora married George Raab in May 1963. Soon after their marriage, George and Flora were stationed at military bases throughout the U.S. and Europe in connection with George’s service in the U.S. Army. Many of Flora’s fondest memories came during her time traveling throughout Europe where they enjoyed many adventures together. Upon returning to the U.S. they found home and community in Watonga, Oklahoma where they raised their family and remained until their passing.
Upon completing her degree Flora worked as an accountant and bookkeeper for several years. She then decided that John and Laura both needed a “closer eye” and began serving as a substitute teacher in the Watonga middle and high schools. Once John and Laura were in college, Flora served as a librarian in the Watonga public library until George’s passing in 1992, at which time she decided to retire and devote her time to travel and spending time with family and friends. She was a devout believer in her Lord, Jesus Christ, and always had a word of encouragement or assistance for those in need.
Flora is predeceased by her parents, Henry and Flora Reeves; her husband, George Raab; and her siblings, Mary Raines, Wanita Saniky, Jack Reeves, Tom Reeves, and Wilburn Reeves.
She is survived by her son, John Raab; her daughter and son-in-law, Laura Coley and David Coley; her granddaughters, Alexis Coley and Alisa Coley; and her siblings, Bessie Ronat, Loretta Haney, Edna Radar, Eugene Reeves, and Walter Reeves.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 19th at 1:30 pm at Oasis Church in Watonga, Oklahoma. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately before the service and relatives and friends are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice

    To the children and grandchildren,
My mother is Ann Floyd Dorries. She was your mother’s English teacher and senior sponsor in high school. On the way home from the senior trip, Mother was having to take care of one of the senior boys at the back of the bus. I was 5 yrs old and yes, during those days I went on all the senior trips. Your mom kept me entertained and took care of me. I have heard Mother tell the story many times. Mother and Flora got to visit at the last class reunion. Mother reminded her that she knew I was in good hands on that long trip back to Valliant with your precious mom. I’m so sorry about your loss. I pray God wraps his arms around each of you during this time.
One more thing, as a small child I would look at Flora and think she was a movie star. She had beauty that I later learned came from the inside. That God given style.

Bill and I were blessed to see Flora whenever she came to see family because she stayed with some of our best friends, Wilburn and Lavonda. We had good visits and caught up on friends in common. Flora has gone on ahead and Lavonda is moving back to Texas. Our hearts are sad. You are in our prayers.

John & Laura, blessings & God’s strength for both of you. Flora & I were classmates at Valliant and at Oklahoma State where she met your dad. She was so smart & fun to be around. Prayers for you and your family!

"If I could give 6 stars I would. Aria made a difficult easier to deal with by basically taking care of everything in an efficient but very empathetic manner. I can speak highly enough of Dusty Martin, who helped us with all of the planning and logistics. He was incredibly understanding and helpful."

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
