Obituary

Stephen H. Jin, age 60, died peacefully at his home and went to be with the Lord Jesus on Sunday, December 19th, 2021.    Born on June 11, 1961 in Park Ridge, IL, Steve grew up in Chicago and the north suburbs where he was a high honor student and athlete at Maine South High School. He continued his education at Miami of Ohio where he graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Zoology and then studied Theology at Trinity International University. Steve was talented, honest, and driven, traits that served him well in a variety of careers from medical capital equipment sales to car sales and roofing contracts to social clubs. He attributed his character and success to his father. Always a sports fan, Steve loved his Chicago teams though rarely bet on them. He enjoyed good food with family and friends, often followed by a cigar and a game of cards. Steve kept in touch with classmates from grammar school, high school, and college. Outgoing, funny, and loyal, he expanded his network tenfold in Dallas, TX where he lived the last 20+ years.. Steve was known for greeting everyone with a hug or a kiss and for photo journaling his social life on Facebook. He was loved for being a genuine Christian brother, a kind and compassionate person, and a thoughtful and caring friend. He was a good listener and was always there to lend a hand and a word of encouragement or advice to those in need. Above all, Steve was grateful – to his parents and to his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, for their unconditional love and sacrifice. Steve is survived by his parents, Thomas and Cecilia, brother Paul, sister-in-law Holly, cousins, and many friends. Chapel services on Wednesday, January 19 will be limited to family only and will be live streamed on Steve’s Facebook page at 11:00 a.m. CST. Steve’s remains will be inurned at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL. A celebration of life will follow at a later date in both Dallas and Chicago. Memorial contributions to Steve’s favorite charity, The SoupMobile, are appreciated. Donate online at www.soupmobile.org/donate or write and mail a check to The SoupMobile, 2490 Coombs St., Dallas, Texas 75215.

I am grateful for the privilege of knowing and growing up with Steve in Park Ridge. We shared many good times playing football togethor and four years at Maine South. In later years, it was always a treat to see him and hear about his latest adventures. Steve was a wonderful soul with a big heart who will be truly missed. I offer my sincere condolences to his family and friends at this time. He was truly one of the good guys…

My condolences were the family. Steve was an amazing friend in person. He would show up and anytime if need. I remember the times he’s came to the hospital when I wasn’t feeling good in the middle of the night and offered to watch my kids for me. I remember the time that I got in a car accident and had no one to call except for Steve and Steve was right there. Even the days when I didn’t get all the laundry folded and it was piling up and I felt depressed about it. It Steve came and folded my kids clothes and help me put them away and then he would always say what are we going to eat. I sure will miss his smile and his love of food and friendship.

Steve was such a classy, upbbeat, encouraging guy to so many people. We spent a lot of time together in high school and then summers in college days. Unfortunately, it was hard to keep up after we both moved around the country. He was an awesome friend, genuine at all times, related to so many people so well. It still makes me smile just to see his face in pictures. Our loss, heaven’s gain. I want to be more like Steve when I grow up!

Steve was liked everywhere he went. After HS, Steve & I and a few other PR folks went on to Miami, with Steve and i ending up in the same Frosh dorm. So young with so much life to live; such a sad ending.

So thankful for this brother in Christ. His love for the Lord was very evident. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8)

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
