Thomas Lee Duell, Sr. (Tom)
Obituary
Thomas Lee Duell Sr (Tom) caught his last flight on July 14, 2022. His final destination is the best place ever where we know he was greeted with open arms. His pain has ended and he can now rest comfortably, forever. Tom was born in Cincinnati OH on August 3, 1939. After flying for the Air Force in Vietnam, he was a commercial pilot until he retired in the late 90’s. He transitioned seamlessly into his new role as pro traveler, world-class grandpa and skilled nap taker. Over the years he and Lois Bellman Duell provided a consistent example of what an enduring, respectful marriage is and how a parent’s job never ends, it just changes. Tom was proceeded in death by his parents and brothers, and is survived by his spouse (Lois), his children (Tom Jr, Jan, David, Chris, and Chuck) and their spouses, along with eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Monday, August 1, 2022 at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 2800 Valwood Pkwy, Farmers Branch, TX 75234

The Piedmont Silver Eagle Family
A fellow classmate at Braniff, Mar 7, 1967. A good friend and fellow DC-8 to South America. My condolences.
Peace be with you. Buster McLin
I flew with Tom at Braniff 1 back in 1979/80. He was the Capt and I was the S/O. Good guy to fly with. Condolences to his family.
Best friend I ever had, played a lot of tennis together and he even drove my car from Texas to North Carolina for me after we came to work at Piedmont. Sure going to miss him !!
Best friend I have ever had. Did a lot of things together. Fantastic person!!!
Best friend anyone could ever have. Thanks for all the good times together. RIP !!!
Tom was a super guy and a super pilot. Flew with him many times to Panama. At Panama they would give vouchers for gambling, at the hotel desk. I always gave mine to Tom as he could lose the money faster than myself. A voracious reader. Never so him without a book in hand, whether on a trip or picking up Chuck at Jesuit. Tom was tops!
Sorry for your loss. RIP
